COSITA RICA.
Paula, the most popular girl of the
neighborhood, dreams of becoming a dancer. The day she meets Diego
Luján, the young heiress of a cosmetic holding, she can’t stop
thinking of him. Diego is about to get married with the famous model
Vicky Cárdenas. But destiny is going to play its cards and the sudden
encounter between Paula and Diego turns into a love story.
Paula and Diego meet again and during
the week they spend together, their lives change forever. Diego
promises Paula to cancel his engagement to Vicky and they both agree
to meet in New York one month after to start a new life.
When Paula arrives at the airport of
NYC, she sees how an old and weak man can’t manage the luggage he
carries, so Paula decides to help him. When they are about to cross
the immigration line, the authorities discover drugs inside the old
man’s luggage that Paula is holding, but the man has disappeared and
Paula is sent to jail for five years. Paula cannot get in touch with
Diego to explain him the situation. Diego is waiting to meet her in
New York and as she never comes, he goes back to Caracas to look for
her lover desperate without any success.
Today, five years later, Paula leaves
jail. She wants to recover her life and to revenge the man who
destroyed her future. She starts working as makeup girl. One day, she
is hired to make up a bride. This is the day when she reencounters
Diego, who is going to get married. The impact is mutual. But there’s
nothing to do. It’s too late.
The day of the wedding, Diego’s father
dies unexpectedly and the worst comes when he finds out that he is not
the heiress. Olegario Pérez, the bastard son of Diego’s father, will
manage the holding. From one day to another, Olegario Pérez will
become one of the most powerful executives of the country. The worst
comes when Olegario meets Paula by chance and he falls in love with
her. Olegario asks Diego to help him conquer a woman. Without knowing
that the woman is Paula, Diego helps his stepbrother writing love
letters, choosing the flowers, the restaurants and the presents for
him. Paula starts falling in love with him and she accepts to get
marry to Olegario.

COSITA RICA.
Paula C. es la muchacha más popular del barrio República. Posee un ángel
que la hace inolvidable y encantadora. Por eso, el día que Diego Luján,
el joven empresario de un imperio de cosméticos, se cruzó con ella, se
le marcaron sus ojos para siempre en la memoria. Diego estaba a una
semana de casarse con la modelo más hermosa de la ciudad: Vicky
Cárdenas. Ella era la imagen exclusiva de las empresas Luján y la
afortunada prometida de un soltero impenitente y codiciado, como siempre
se le había conocido a Diego. Pero el destino jugó sus cartas. El
encuentro entre Paula C. y Diego fue lo más parecido a una tormenta, o
lo que es lo mismo, a una gran historia de amor. Porque a Paula C. le
pasó exactamente lo mismo cuando vio a Diego: el estremecimiento de un
huracán. La segunda vez que Diego vio a Paula C los acontecimientos los
envolvieron en un viaje que fue suficiente para devastarles el corazón y
cambiarles la vida. Paula C. y Diego tenían que regresar a su vida de
todos los días, a sus afectos, sus compromisos, sus rutinas, sus mundos
tan distintos. No querían hacerlo. No querían separarse. Por eso se
despidieron con un pacto de amor entre los ojos. El le prometió cancelar
su compromiso de bodas con Vicky. Ella le prometió también renunciar a
un novio que acompañaba sin mayores pasiones sus días. El se las
arreglaría para hacerle llegar los papeles necesarios para el viaje y el
boleto de avión. Y Paula C. desde entonces, sólo vivió para ese día. ¿Qué
ocurrió ese día? El resto es imposible de develar. Debemos asomarnos a los espacios
íntimos de un imperio económico y a las escalinatas de una populosa
barriada latinoamericana para averiguar lo que realmente va a pasar.
Porque no sólo estamos contando la historia de Paula C. y Diego, sino
también los avatares de buena parte de los personajes que habitan el
barrio República, con sus angustias, sus sueños y su anhelo de vivir en
un mejor país. Debemos admirarnos ante el tesón demoledor de Paula C.
por convertirse en la mejor bailarina del mundo. Sorprendernos ante la
inesperada aparición de Olegario Pérez, un hombre que vendrá a pelearse
el amor de Paula C. y trastocarle el destino a todos. Nos asomaremos a
los complejos resortes del poder, al fastuoso mundo de la vanidad
femenina, a la lucha de muchos seres humanos por conquistar la fama o el
dinero y a la radiografía de un país revuelto y crispado. Pero, sobre
todo, nos asombraremos ante la forma en que el amor circuló como una
marea alta y calamitosa por las arterias y huesos de Paula C. y Diego
Luján, convirtiéndose en el amor más peleado, contrariado y difícil de
todos los tiempos. |
