МЕЧТЫ. Жизнь Хосе Карлоса круто изменилась после смерти его жены Эстрельи два года назад. DREAMS. Life changed drastically for Jose Carlos after the death of his wife, Estrella, two years ago. Since then, he has carried the burden of being a single parent to his three children: Magaly, 18; Rafy, 11 and Dorita, whose only wish on her eighth birthday was to find a new mother just like Estrella. Three women are competing for Jose Carlos’ love, filling his life with tension and intrigue: Anastasia, his sister-in-law; Beatriz, sister of Dorita’s music teacher; and Laura, his secretary. But Jose Carlos is not interested in finding romance right now; he is too busy struggling to keep his family together and overcome financial difficulties.

In his search for a practical way to improve his domestic situation, Jose Carlos sees his secretary as the best candidate to substitute his deceased wife. But he makes the wrong choice, because he fails to consider his own feelings as well as to notice Laura’s underlying ambition. Leaving his dreams aside, the devoted father enters into this new commitment, which will only bring him problems, specially with the mischievous Dorita-who will do everything she can to break up the relationship. What she really wants is to see her father fall in love with Alicia Beltran, her beautiful and lively music teacher.

From the day that Dorita met her young teacher, she was impressed by the incredible resemblance between Alicia and Estrella. But that is not the only reason why Alicia steals Dorita’s heart; her sweetness, her gentle way with children, her positive and joyful outlook on life also captivate the little girl. To Alicia, however, Jose Carlos is forbidden fruit. She knows that her sister, Beatriz, is in love with him, and Alicia does not want to hurt her by letting her true feelings show. At the same time, she is also aware that Jose Carlos is engaged to Laura, who gradually begins to feel jealous of Alicia and becomes her fiercest rival.

In Dorita’s world-filled with Alicia’s laughter, music and dance-dreams are nor impossible, and she will go to any lengths to make them come true. Her wit, candor and ingenuity put her in hilarious situations as she tries to light the spark of love between her father and her music teacher. Neither of them suspects her intentions; on the contrary, a certain animosity develops between them during their first encounters, which greatly worries Dorita. But thanks to the little girl’s secret schemes intended to unite them, Alicia and Jose Carlos end up falling deeply in love. In her quest for happiness, Dorita comes face to face with the adult world, full of pessimism and complexity. She discovers that, perplexingly, grown-ups wear themselves out in an intense battle for power and money. But the cheerful little girl never gives up: first she will have to bring joy back into her father’s aching heart and then fill it with courage and optimism, so that he will be able to fight for true love against the evil and ambition that envelop him. And finally, Dorita will make her dream come true…

SUEÑOS. Al morir su esposa Estrella, dos años atrás, la vida se transforma para José Carlos. Las reponsabilidades del hogar caen sobre sus hombros junto a la difícil tarea de guiar a sus tres hijos - Magaly, joven de dieciocho años, Rafy, hijo adoptivo de once y Dorita que al cumplir tan sólo ocho años de edad, le pide de regalo ver realizado su sueño de tener una mamá igual a Estrella. Tres mujeres se disputan su amor llenando de tensión e intrigas su vida: su cuñada Anastasia, Beatriz, la hermana mayor de la profesora de música de Dorita y Laura, su secretaria. Pero José Carlos no se interesa por mujer alguna y lucha por mantener la unión y estabilidad económica de su familia.

Como una salida favorable que pudiera aliviar la carga de su pena, José Carlos ve en su secretaria la mejor elección para sustituir a la esposa fallecida. Mas se equivoca en la decisión, porque él no tiene en cuenta sus propios sentimientos ni se percata de los ambiciosos anhelos de Laura. Dando la espalda a sus sueños, el abnegado padre se impone este nuevo compromiso, que sólo le traerá trastornos a su vida y problemas con la pequeña y traviesa Dorita. Ella hará lo imposible por romper esa relación, pues desea con todas sus fuerzas que su alegre y bella profesora de música, Alicia Beltrán, sea quien conquiste el corazón de su papá.

Desde que Dorita conoció a su joven profesora quedó impresionada por el parecido físico de Alicia y su mamá. Pero no sólo por eso Alicia se gana el afecto de Dorita, sino también por su dulzura, su forma diferente de tratar a los niños y de ver la realidad, llena de optimismo, alegría y deseos de vivir. Sin embargo para Alicia el amor de José Carlos es algo prohibido. Ella sabe que su hermana Beatríz está intensamente enamorada de él y teme herirla mostrando sus sentimientos. Por otra parte también sabe del compromiso de José Carlos con Laura, quien comienza a celarla convirtiéndose en una terrible rival.

En el mundo de Dorita - adornado por la música, la danza y la risa de Alicia - los sueños no son imposibles y ella hará todo lo posible por alcanzarlos. Su ingenio, candidez e inteligencia desatan situaciones graciosas para despertar el amor entre su papá y su profesora de música. Ni Alicia ni José Carlos advierten sus intenciones; por el contrario, entre ellos surge un rechazo mutuo, que en un inicio decepciona a la traviesa niña. Los encuentros frecuentes provocados a sus espaldas, hacen nacer entre esta pareja un profundo y verdadero amor.

En su afán de perseguir sus sueños, Dorita enfrentará el mundo de los adultos, lleno de complejidades y pesimismo. Así descubre que los mayores, incomprensiblemente, se desgastan en la batalla intensa por alcanzar el sueño del poder y del dinero. Pero la positiva niña no se deja vencer: primero tendrá que sembrar la alegría en el corazón adolorido de su padre y luego, llenarlo de valor y optimismo para que él, con todad sus fuerzas, luche por el amor contra la ambición y la maldad que le rodean. Al final Dorita hará realidad su sueño...
